Game jam Over! Issues.
What worked and got finished
The good news is that I managed to mostly finish a boss fight (!!!) and submit the game on time.... kinda. I pumped out a bite sized level and most things work. Yeah, it's covered in bugs (especially the boss fight) but you can finish the game. Except that you can't actually because the game doesn't end and there is no menu for you to close. haha. The combat (throwing your candle) isn't particularly hard, and it needs to be fine tuned to work with the physics a bit better so that either you candle or the enemiy doesn't go flying off through colliders, but that being said I am very happy with it as a proof of concept. I like the idea of carrying your health bar around and being vulnerable when you use it to defend yourself; I could see this idea going in a lot of different places, and I'll be sure to revisit it in the future.
What didn't
The most glaring issue with my game is that there is no audio. Yep, none. Well, except for footsteps that I threw together a few minutes after the submission deadline. I just didn't prioritize it and before I knew it there was only an hour left and I was still working on the boss fight. The other issue is that my html godot build didn't work for html, so I have to look into that.
That's all for now, just a quick one. I'll try to fix the bigger issues relating to game build and maybe do another more in depth retrospective.
